Abstract
⺠A two-layer momentum balance predicts flow through submerged vegetation. ⺠An iterative procedure accounts for vegetation flexibility in the two-layer model. ⺠Hydraulic resistance depends primarily on channel fraction blocked by vegetation. ⺠Manning roughness increases nonlinearly with channel blockage. ⺠For the same blockage, resistance increases with the number of distinct patches.
