Abstract
⺠Nitrogen isotopes of nitrate and surface sediments in the Peru upwelling reveal strong latitudinal gradients. ⺠N-loss processes lead to δ15N increase under influence of the oxygen minimum zone. ⺠Partial nitrate utilization has an effect mainly outside the OMZ and perennial upwelling.
