Abstract
⺠Shell microstructures as potential taxonomic characters for deep-sea mussels. ⺠Established bathymodiolin lineages cannot be discriminated with these characters. ⺠Microstructural features uniformity does not challenge Bathymodiolinae monophyly. ⺠Neotenous features should be considered in the taxonomic revision of this group.
