Abstract
► A Lagrangian float captured the cycle of a spring bloom in the North Atlantic. ► Net community production (NCP) was estimated from budgets of NO3− and O2. ► Subtraction of the POC production from the NCP yielded export ratios of 60-70%. ► Both NCP and POC export proceeded at a relatively constant rate during two blooms. ► Rapid remineralization may explain the lack of carbon overconsumption in spring.
