Abstract
⺠A Lagrangian float captured the cycle of a spring bloom in the North Atlantic. ⺠Net community production (NCP) was estimated from budgets of NO3â and O2. ⺠Subtraction of the POC production from the NCP yielded export ratios of 60-70%. ⺠Both NCP and POC export proceeded at a relatively constant rate during two blooms. ⺠Rapid remineralization may explain the lack of carbon overconsumption in spring.
