Abstract
In the southern North Sea continental waters, the chlorophyll a spring maximum may be linearly predicted by winter nutrients, and hence by winter salinity, through two corrections: a correction for transport by advection during the spring bloom formation, and a correction for the remaining nutrients at the spring biomass peak (assumed â 0 for the limiting nutrient).
