Abstract
► We have derived model parameters for wave friction over mussel beds. ► Over the mussel bed wave energy is lost by bed friction, no breaking occurs. ► Model results show increase in wave attenuation over mussel beds. ► Bed edge coincides with minima in wave forcing prior to bed settlement. ► Mussel bed appears to be located in optimal with respect to wave forcing.
