► Na2ZrO3 nanoparticle prepared using surfactant template/ultrasound assisted method. ► Porosity decrease after very high temperature treatment due to instable porous structure. ► Adequate performance up to a CO2 partial pressure of 0.3 bar. ► Considerable reduction in CO2 uptake capacity and kinetics for CO2 partial pressure below 0.3 bar.
