Abstract
► Electrocoagulation of a surfactant-aided soil-remediation process effluent is studied. ► Effluent consists simultaneously of an O/W emulsion and a colloidal suspension. ► Electrocogulation efficiency depends on electrode materials and initial effluent pH. ► A marked conductivity reduction and partial neutralization of the effluent are attained. ► The treatment of the strongly acidic effluents using aluminium electrodes is the most efficient.
