Abstract

Extraction of isoflavones from stem of Pueraria lobata (Willd.) Ohwi was studied using n-butanol/water two-phase solvent system as solvents. The influence of solvent composition and temperature on the extraction kinetics was investigated. It was found that 1:1 (v/v) n-butanol/water results in the maximum yield of total-isoflavones. The higher the temperature, the higher the yield of total-isoflavones and the extraction rate. A mathematical model was proposed and solved to describe the extraction process. It was found that the calculation results are in good agreement with the experimental data.
