Abstract
⺠The 2009 eruption had three phases: precursory, explosive and effusive. ⺠Precursory: magma reached mid-upper crust ~ 9 months prior to eruption; increased seismicity > 4 months prior; high heat flux. ⺠Explosive: > 19 explosions and 2 or 3 lava domes over 13 days. ⺠Effusive: a lava dome that reached 72 M m3 (bulk) and is intact today. ⺠Total erupted volume estimate (DRE) for the eruption is 80-120 M m3.
