Abstract
⺠The ankaratrites of Madagascar are olivine melilitites, olivine-melilite nephelinites and olivine (± leucite) nephelinites. ⺠The Madagascan ankaratrites formed after low-degree melting of a lithospheric garnet lherzolite or wehrlite with dolomite. ⺠The source bears no relationship to the HIMU-like sources of melilitites from eastern and southern Africa.
