Abstract
⺠We describe, for the first time, adakitic porphyries from the northern part of the Eastern Pontides. ⺠All data of this study are conflict with a slab-melting origin and slab-related petrogenetic model. ⺠Our data favor an origin by melting of a mafic lower continental crust throughout a slab break-off in a collisional setting. ⺠The data argue against the evidence for the presence of an early Cenozoic arc setting. ⺠Early Cenozoic in the region may be attributed to a post-collisional uplift phase.
