Abstract
► We reported early Mesozoic volcanic rocks on the northern Tibetan Plateau. ► The volcanism was active during 234-177 Ma and show a bimodal composition. ► It was caused by post-orogenic collapse of the central Qiangtang metamorphic belt. ► This collapse was product of break-off of the subducting western Qiangtang slab.
