Abstract
⺠We reported early Mesozoic volcanic rocks on the northern Tibetan Plateau. ⺠The volcanism was active during 234-177 Ma and show a bimodal composition. ⺠It was caused by post-orogenic collapse of the central Qiangtang metamorphic belt. ⺠This collapse was product of break-off of the subducting western Qiangtang slab.
