Abstract
⺠Peru underwent a series of large-scale related tectonic changes during the Miocene. ⺠Adakitic ignimbrites are derived from deep mafic lower crust, not subducted slab. ⺠Large-volume melts were erupted from a crustal scale fault rather than a caldera. ⺠Adakitic ignimbrites were the final magmatic products in Northern Peru. ⺠Sodic plagioclase may be stable at > 2 GPa under certain conditions.
