Abstract
► We use a quantitative, numerical, xenolith P-T based palaeogeotherm calculation method. ►We obtain more precise estimates of the palaeogeotherm than previous, more qualitative methods. ► Screening xenolith P-T data prior to calculation of the palaeogeotherm increases precision. ► Geotherms calculated from xenocryst data yield less precise estimates of lithosphere properties. ► We show comparisons of Seismically obtained geotherms and xenolith-based palaeogeotherms.
