Abstract
► Ophiolites in the Central Eastern Desert of Egypt cluster in its northern (NCO) and southern parts. ► The Wadi Um Gheig (WUG) amphibolite belt is exposed in the southeast most of the NCO. ► Similar to NCO, the WUG amphibolites show an IAT/boninitic affinities. ► The WUG amphibolites likely represent remnants of a dismembered metamorphic sole beneath the NCO.
