Abstract
⺠Typhoon Morakot generated major floods of small, mountainous rivers in SW Taiwan. ⺠~ 8 Mt of sediment accumulated in a 3-12 cm thick layer in Fangliao Submarine Canyon. ⺠Sediment characteristics suggest the material arrived via gravity flow. ⺠Geochemical properties suggest a recent, terrestrial origin for the sediment. ⺠7Be is not an effective signature of recent terrigenous input in this setting.
