Abstract
► Marine retrogressive erosion breached the caldera rim and dismantled its infilling. ► This process fed a wide volcaniclastic fan in the offshore. ► The fan was formed through the gradual stacking of submarine gravity flows. ► Ongoing submarine erosive processes threaten the stability of La Fossa Cone. ► This represents a significant geo-hazard for coastal communities.
