Abstract
Contrary to geomorphological convention many landscape elements evidently predate the Neogene. Some are of exhumed origin but many are of etch type and can be dated by means of stratigraphic and topographic data. Most appear to occur in Gondwanan remnants in the southern hemisphere but ancient vestiges increasingly have been reported also from North America and Europe. Features of Early Tertiary and later Mesozoic age-ranges have been identified and cogent though possibly inadequate survival factors have been cited. Notwithstanding, most workers consider that forms of Triassic derivation that occur in the contemporary landscape are considered incredible.
