Abstract
⺠Neoarchean basement in the NCC was formed at two distinct periods: 2.8-2.7 Ga and 2.6-2.5 Ga. ⺠The 2.8-2.7 Ga is considered as a major period of juvenile crustal growth in the NCC. ⺠The formation of the 2.6-2.5 Ga basement in the NCC was most likely related to mantle plume activities. ⺠Paleoproterozoic basement rocks in the NCC are mainly restricted to three linear tectonic belts. ⺠Subduction/collision was involved in the development of the Paleoproterozoic belts in the NCC.
