Abstract
⺠We describe features of centimeter-scale, low-strain, contractional kink bands. ⺠Kink bands in this location formed dominantly via fixed-hinge, rotational kinking. ⺠AMS indicates deformation inside kink bands requires more than simple rotation. ⺠Dilation and interlayer slip operated inside most kink bands. ⺠Pressure solution operated inside “locked” kink bands only.
