Abstract
⺠Ungulate community richness tracks annual precipitation in Africa. ⺠Ungulate richness declined in the Western Cape since the Last Glacial Maximum. ⺠Last Glacial Maximum rainfall was higher in the winter and year-round rainfall zones. ⺠Previous interpretations of aridity can be explained by alternate mechanisms.
