Abstract
⺠We present a 5500-year record comprising 1573 flood layers in varved lake sediments. ⺠Microfacies data from two sediment profiles enabled deciphering depositional processes. ⺠Shifts towards higher flood intensity occurred at â¼5500, 2800, and 400 varve years BP. ⺠Proposed triggers are gradual reduction in NH orbital summer forcing and solar activity minima.
