Abstract
⺠Chironomids from two very different Swiss lakes show similar patterns of temperature changes. ⺠These reconstructions are similar to records at local, regional, European and northern hemispheric scales. ⺠The inferred temperatures were warm (+1 °C, 1900-2000 average) during the medieval climate anomaly. ⺠The reconstructed temperatures of the past decades are warm (+0.7 °C, 1900-2000 average). ⺠The chironomid assemblages since 1950 AD in both lakes are unique for the past 1000 years.
