Abstract
⺠An approach treating ISWZ as a joint filled with interlayer soil was presented. ⺠A superposition model for the shear behaviours of ISWZ's components was developed. ⺠An interlayer soil thickness dependent shear strength model for ISWZ was developed. ⺠An approach to estimate the mechanical critical thickness of ISWZ was proposed.
