Abstract

- 2D, 3D Mesoporous MnO2 and 1D-MnO2 nano-rod were prepared by the hard template method and hydrothermal method, respectively.
- Mesoporous MnO2 has larger surface areas, special pore systems, good pore size distributions and polycrystalline walls.
- The better catalytic activity of 3D-MnO2 is mainly due to reducibility, surface adsorbed oxygen species and Mn4+ ions.
- 3D-MnO2 is a very promising material for ethanol oxidation due to better activity and stability under the water vapor.
