Abstract

- ZrO2 had enhanced oxidation activity in gasification gas clean-up in presence of H2S.
- Temperature-programmed methods: reactivity of surface O on sulfided ZrO2.
- H2S reacts with minority sites generating H2O thus replacing O on the surface.
- Addition of S in the ZrO2 structure enhanced CO oxidation activity of the oxide.
- The reported effects explain enhancement in oxidation activity in gas clean-up tests.
