Enhanced visible light-driven hydrogen production from water by a noble-metal-free system containing organic dye-sensitized titanium dioxide loaded with nickel hydroxide as the cocatalyst

This work shows that a Eosin Y dye-sensitized Ni(OH)2/TiO2 system for efficient visible light-driven hydrogen production from water. The optimal rate of H2 production is 15.76 μmol h−1, which is about 90 times higher than the system without Ni(OH)2 under the same condition.
