Abstract
- Catalytic oxidation of SO2 on Pt/γ-Al2O3 was experimentally studied and modeled via a Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism.
- The rate determining step and surface coverages are strongly temperature dependent.
- Oxygen adsorption/desorption and the surface reaction control the overall rate at temperatures below 300 °C.
- The surface reaction between the adsorbed species is the RDS at higher temperatures.
