Abstract

- Nanoporous 250 nm-sized TiO2 SP was successfully employed in fabricating Fe3+/N-TiO2 photocatalytic system.
- Fe3+/N-TiO2 SP exhibited 5.0-7.3 times higher visible-light photocatalytic activity than the typical N-TiO2 NP.
- SP system with large internal surface is remarkably advantageous for protecting the grafted Fe3+ ions.
- With mixing of silica binder, Fe3+/N-TiO2 SP demonstrated ∼6 times higher photocatalytic activity than Fe3+/N-TiO2 NP.
