Abstract
- Carbon-doped TiO2 was produced by a simple sol-gel method.
- Catalysts nearly completely oxidized a highly stable dye under visible light alone.
- Degussa P25 could only discolor but not mineralize under the similar conditions.
- Mid-gap holes of carbon-doped catalysts were able to oxidize a large toxic compound.
