Abstract
												- The N-C/TiO2 photoanodes were fabricated by hydrothermal-calcination approach.
- Hydrothermal temperature had significant effect on the structure and PEC activity.
- E. coli could be completely PEC inactivated within 30Â min under VL irradiation.
- High PEC activity was due to synergistic effect between N-C species and TiO2.
