Abstract
Propanal deoxygenation occurs on H+ sites contained in MFI zeolites via competitive pathways of inter- or intra-molecular CC bond formation to evolve 2-methyl-2-pentenal or propene, respectively. Inter-molecular CC bond formation is limited by reversible nucleophilic attack of propenol to protonated propanal and intra-molecular CC bond formation by irreversible hydrogen transfer.139
