Abstract
► Gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) were supported on magnesium oxide. ► The formation of surface Au NPs was monitored by in situ UV-Vis-Mass technique. ► The material is active in the aerobic oxidation of alcohols without base co-catalyst. ► Commercially important monoterpenoids were obtained in good to excellent yields. ► The material also promotes the aerobic oxidative esterification of benzyl alcohol.
