Abstract
Grinding a solar reflective blue-grey coating with low surface free energy using appropriate emery papers yielded suitable micro-grooves and exposed micro- and nano-particles on the coating surfaces, both factors together endowing the coating surfaces with super-non-wettability. The coating possesses a water contact angle (WCA) greater than 150° and a sliding angle (SA) less than 3°. The coating with the solar reflectance of 0.808 generated a cooling effect of 22.6 °C relative to concrete on a typical clear summer sunny day and it emitted yellow-green luminescence in the dark places. The optical properties of the coating remained nearly identical before and after 400 h of artificial accelerated weathering.227
