Abstract
⺠We reviewed relevant knowledge on climate data and crop modelling. ⺠We analysed climate data in the context of agricultural research in Africa and Asia. ⺠Large uncertainties in present-day climatology were found over Nepal and Ethiopia. ⺠Climate models were found inadequate for field-scale agricultural studies. ⺠De-biasing, scale matching and uncertainty treatment are key future research topics.
