Abstract
► Monochromatic lidar can't reliably measure forest over topography and understory. ► Dual wavelength waveform lidar is capable of overcoming this. ► A physically based algorithm was developed and optimal lidar parameters explored. ► This was tested across a range of conditions and found to perform well.
