Abstract
⺠This study evaluated the simulation of the energy budget and CO2 fluxes in a forest. ⺠The explicit formulation of surface residues improved the performance of the model. ⺠Discrepancies in simulations were highest during the spring and fall seasons. ⺠The largest improvement for residue effects was in simulating soil heat conduction.
