Abstract
The limiting Nusselt number value of 4 for laminar convection through parallel plates kept at unequal temperatures in the absence of viscous dissipation is independent of the degree of asymmetry. Similarly, when the parallel plates are kept at equal temperatures, the limiting Nusselt number value of 17.5 when viscous dissipation is included is independent of the Brinkman number, which characterizes the viscous dissipation. This paper examines the dependence of limiting Nusselt numbers on the Brinkman number and the degree of asymmetry when the parallel plates are kept at unequal temperatures and viscous dissipation is included.
