Abstract
In the present study, different two-phase flow regimes in horizontal and vertical tubes have been studied experimentally and theoretically. A 3-D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling was carried out in order to model gas–liquid two-phase flow using volume of fluid (VOF) model. An Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) system was used to visualize these flow regimes, which were produced by change in the gas to liquid flow rate ratio. The reconstructed images from the ERT measurement and corresponding captured photographs for different flow regimes have been compared with the CFD predictions and a good qualitative agreement was observed between them.
