•The N-benzylation of arylcyanamides using acidic zeolites as stable heterogeneous “E” catalysts (Eco-friendly, Efficient and Economical).•Catalyst characterization was performed by FT-IR spectra and XRD, XRF, SEM, TG-DTA analysis.•Recycling of the catalyst was successfully demonstrated.•Other features of the method are mild reaction conditions, easy work-up and high yields.
A facile and efficient approach for benzylation of arylcyanamides with benzyl bromide has been developed using acidic zeolites as heterogeneous catalysts at 65 °C in acetonitrile. Recyclability of the catalyst, high yield, short reaction times, easy work up, economical and environmental benignancy of the catalyst are the attracting features of this protocol.
