Abstract
The present study focuses on the computation of fully developed flow and heat transfer through a stationary wavy-walled duct using large eddy simulation (LES) in finite volume framework. Shear improved Smagorinsky model (SISM) has been used for the computation of eddy viscosity. The wavy-wall is described by the sine function y = 2a sin2(πx/L). The geometrical ratios Hmin/Hmax and L/a are fixed to 0.2 and 8, respectively. The effect of Reynolds numbers (2053-10,000) on the flow field and heat transfer has been presented. Instantaneous, mean and turbulent quantities are reported. It has been observed that the flow is strongly three-dimensional. The friction factor is found to be insensitive to the Reynolds number. Normalized Nusselt number ratio shows significant Reynolds number dependency.
