Abstract
⺠Models from chemical engineering phenomena can apply to biological systems. ⺠Thermodynamic models enable design of promoters, metabolism, and RNA devices. ⺠A few, simple kinetic rate laws can model a myriad of synthetic gene circuits. ⺠Transport phenomena laws enable design of multicellular synthetic systems. ⺠Synthetic biologists use these frameworks to design function in engineered cells.
