Abstract
⸠We study segregation of granular materials in horizontal rotating drums. ⸠Numerical simulations are carried out with an original cellular automata model. ⸠Short and long time segregation dynamics are related to free surface flow dynamics. ⸠Good agreement is found between simulations and experiments. ⸠We suggest strategies to drive and reduce segregation in drums.
