Abstract
▸ Calculation of the concentration field near cells that deform during interaction. ▸ Factor accumulation increases directly with the deformed synaptic surface area. ▸ Order of magnitude increases in concentrations and signaling gradients can occur. ▸ Analytical expressions for the synaptic concentration are derived. ▸ The synaptic region cannot be properly analyzed without considering the entire cell surface.
