Abstract
⺠Catalyst-inert mixtures produce axial activity variability in reactors. ⺠Statistically driven activity variability can cause some reactor tubes to run away. ⺠The effect is significant for practical pill sizes and extents of dilution. ⺠Larger pill size and greater extents of dilution increase the axial activity variability.
