Abstract
- The electrochemical behaviour of three TiMo alloys in Ringer's and acidic Ringer's solutions has been characterized.
- TiMo alloys attain a passive regime when immersed in solution, and this happens spontaneously at the open circuit potential.
- The oxide films formed on the alloys effectively protect the metal from dissolution in this environment.
- Localized differences in electrochemical reactivity of the materials could be detected by SECM measurements.
- Polarization of the alloys at anodic polarizations that can be achieved in the human does not lead to passivity breakdown.
