Abstract
The present paper deals with experimental and numerical study on the longitudinal heat transportation by an oscillatory water flow in a double tube type heat transportation pipe. Experiments were performed to measure the heat transportation rate in the ranges of 2.3 ⩽ Wo ⩽ 7.2 and 400 ⩽ Remax ⩽ 6600. The heat transportation rate was approximately 10–490 times the heat transportation rate of a straight round pipe, and it was around 1–40 times the heat conduction rate through a copper rod. Analytical heat transportation rates agreed well with the experimental ones.
