Abstract
► Partial oxidation converts tars into polyaromatic hydrocarbons, primarily naphthalene. ► Above 950 °C practically all phenol is converted. ► High temperature and excess air ratios contribute positively. ► High moisture contents of the biomass enhance the decomposition of phenol.
