Study on the fate of metal elements from biomass in a bench-scale fluidized bed gasifier

► We quantified the sources of 14 trace elements (TE) and 7 major elements (ME) in a biomass fluidized bed gasifier. ► Some elements pass through the silicon carbide candle filter and are present in the gas stream, including ME and TE. ► Overall, the fuel provides ∼70% of TE, gasifier system ∼25%, and sampling blank ∼2% in the gas stream. ► Mass balances for ME and TE are reported for individual elements and overall.
